Birmingham Panthers Netball Franchise Appoints New Head Coach

The Birmingham Panthers Netball Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Sonia Mkoloma as the team’s new Head Coach.

A former England international and one of the sport’s most respected figures, Mkoloma brings exceptional experience, leadership and dynamism to the Birmingham Panthers as they enter the next phase of growth and ambition following the Investment from Knighthead Capital.

Currently serving as England Netball’s Roses Pathways Head Coach – overseeing Future
roses, U21 World Youth Cup squad, U19s and U17s Roses Academy, Mkoloma plays a key role in nurturing the next generation of elite English talent. Her appointment reflects Birmingham Panthers’ commitment to excellence, development, and building sustainable success.

Mkoloma has earned over a decade of international experience with England, competing at multiple major tournaments and playing professionally both in the UK and internationally. She is also known for her dedication to mentoring young athletes and growing the game.

Speaking about her new role, Mkoloma said:
“While it’s bittersweet to be stepping away from my role as head coach of England Netball Pathways, I’m incredibly excited to be joining Birmingham Panthers as their new head coach. This is a fantastic new chapter for me – full of opportunity challenge and growth and I can not wait to get started with the club and help shape their future in the NSL 2.0.”

The Birmingham Panthers will begin pre-season training under Mkoloma’s leadership later this year, with eyes firmly set on climbing the league ladder and making a lasting impact in the netball community.
