Sigi Burger Ruled Out for Remainder of the Season

The Birmingham Panthers can confirm that shooter Sigi Burger will unfortunately miss the rest of the season due to a knee injury sustained during Sunday’s match against London Pulse.
Supporters watching the game will have seen Sigi leave the court appearing to be in discomfort. After undergoing medical assessment and scans, it has been confirmed that while her ACL is thankfully undamaged, she has sustained an injury to her medial collateral ligament (MCL). This will require a period of rest and rehabilitation, ruling her out of the Panthers’ final three games.
Sigi remains in positive spirits and shared a message with fans and teammates:
“As much as I’m gutted that my season has been cut short, I’m grateful that it’s something that, with hard work, can hopefully allow me to return to netball quicker. I have no doubt that the ladies are going to absolutely smash the remainder of the season, and I’ll be the loudest in the arena backing them every step of the way.”
Head Coach Jo Trip also spoke on the impact of the injury:
“Sigi has brought immense quality and energy to the team this season, and while we’re disappointed to lose her on court, her presence will still be felt. Her health is our priority, and she’ll have the full backing of the club during her rehab.”
The entire Birmingham Panthers family is behind Sigi and will support her throughout her recovery. We can’t wait to see her back in Panthers colours when the time is right.
Join us in wishing Sigi a smooth and speedy recovery.
