Birmingham Panthers Confirm Gabby Marshall Will Not Return to Netball

06 May 25

The Birmingham Panthers Netball Franchise can confirm that, following medical advice, Gabby Marshall has made the difficult decision to retire from netball due to the head injuries
she sustained earlier this year.

This is incredibly sad news for everyone at the franchise, but Gabby’s health and wellbeing must always come first. We are immensely proud of all that she has achieved during her time with the Panthers. Her dedication, skill, and leadership have left an enduring legacy both on and off the court, and she has been an inspiration to teammates, coaches, and the wider netball community.

Reflecting on her decision, Gabby said: “Although I’m devastated my time on court was cut short, I’m truly grateful to have had the opportunity to represent this club. A huge thank you to my teammates for riding the wave with me and to the staff for all your help and support whilst I recover. I also want to thank Panthers fans and the wider netball community for all the well-wishes for my recovery , I really appreciate it. I will be cheering the girls on for the remainder of the season and will always be proud to be a
Panther.”

Head Coach Jo Trip shared her thoughts:
“I’m deeply saddened for Gabs. Suffering two serious head knocks has been incredibly tough on both her and the team. She has been an outstanding teammate and leader, and I have no doubt she will continue to support us in whatever capacity she can for the remainder of the season.”

Gabby Marshall will always be a cherished part of the Birmingham Panthers family. We are committed to supporting her as she embarks on the next chapter of her journey, and we thank her for everything she has contributed to our team and the sport.
