The Birmingham Panthers NXT Gen travelled to Manchester last Monday to take on AO Manchester Thunder, entering the clash full of confidence after six consecutive wins. The last time these two sides met, the Birmingham Panthers secured a convincing 16-goal victory, setting the stage for an exciting rematch as the team looked to extend their streak to seven straight wins.

The Birmingham Panthers came out firing in the opening quarter, taking an early lead and heading into quarter time up 18-14. AO Manchester Thunder responded strongly in the second quarter, fighting their way back to take a 34-28 lead into halftime.

With the game on the line, the Birmingham Panthers delivered when it mattered most. A dominant 20-goal third quarter shifted the momentum back in Birmingham’s favour and laid the foundation for a strong finish. The Birmingham Panthers closed out the contest 62-55, securing their seventh consecutive victory.

Ane de Wet was instrumental in the attacking end for the Birmingham Panthers, with her composure, creativity and accuracy under the post providing confidence throughout the match. Following her standout performance, de Wet was deservedly awarded Players’ Player of the Match, Coaches’ Player of the Match and Opposition Player of the Match.

The Birmingham Panthers NXT Gen now turn their attention to Team Bath this Saturday at the University of Wolverhampton, where they will look to continue their impressive form.
